Inscribed bottom left is:
An old inn leaving Great Missenden about ¼ mile on the main road to London
Shortly to be off the main bypass road.

The sign indicates that it is The Black Horse Inn, which is actually on the now-bypassed Aylesbury Road out of Great Missenden.

Ley Hill

This group of four paintings are described variously as in their captions below. I believe they all relate to Grove Farm in Ashley Green.  The capitalised captions were added later from memory when the paintings were donated to the Bucks Count Museum and the location recorded as Ley Hill not far from Ashley Green is likely an error.

Grove Farm in Ashley Green is a moated farm and it is reputed to have contained a chapel.  Historical records show that the former Manor House included the Chapel of St Mary Magdalene.  It could well have been referred to as Chapel Farm.
