Italian paintings added

Car travelled extensively in Europe and further afield. This April 2019 I have added the bulk of her paintings to hand made in her time in Italy, probably during 1930. There are paintings of Assisi, Rapallo, Siena and Venice. I have not yet included those of Rome.

The large Rapallo set is noteworthy, picturing the harbour and bay before the extensive development of marinas there.

The paintings of Venice depict it at a time when most transport between the islands was by sailing barge.

It featured many of Car’s paintings available on this website. The selection focussed on Buckinghamshire but also included the London Bedecked series.

A major and impressive feature of this exhibition was the display of the convalescing soldiers sketches.
